We are a small community of knitters based in Houston. It started out as a small group of friends who originally fell in love with the craft and wanted to meet other knitters. Knitting is a versatile craft that has a project out there for everyone. And when we say knitting is versatile, we mean it! People typically think it’s all about sweaters and scarves, but there is so much more to explore with the amount of knowledge and skill that has developed in its long history. It connects people from around the different places and we want to create spaces where everyone can share their love for the craft.
Cheerful Knits travel around Houston connecting with the community at yarn shops, cafes and whoever else will have us. It’s a great way to ask for help or provide guidance where you can. We post our meet up locations and dates a week in advance to give people enough time to come on over and craft. We welcome all fiber artists and anyone who just wants to have a good time.
Join our KAL! Twice a year, Cheerful Knits hosts a knit-along for the community. Our KALs run over the course of three months to give everyone enough time to work on their projects at their own pace. It also gives everyone the opportunity to ask the community for feedback or questions. Three participants will be selected at the end of each KAL and given a $100 cash prize.
