Behind the operation of Cheerful Knits are Francine, Natalie and Sammy. We are a small trio of friends who craft and laugh together. All of us are self-taught knitters, thanks to YouTube and other online resources, and picked it up at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown. Francine started sharing on Instagram, then Sammy and Natalie. By 2022, we amassed a small following in the online knitting the community. After that, we realized that our little community had the potential to move beyond online spaces. So, Cheerful Knits began and we started hosting in-person meet ups every week.
All three of us grew up in the same area of Houston and gradually got into knitting in 2020. Despite our staggered start to the craft, we eventually reached the point where we wanted to share our knitting with more than just ourselves. The growth from the lockdown to 2022 was the big push to move towards turning Cheerful Knits into something that represented all of us and what hoped to contribute to the knitting community.
Five years later, and we were able to grow Cheerful Knits into a network of people across the Houston area willing to offer help wherever we can.
